General

MyRecipeHQ is a recipe management and meal planning app focused on reducing grocery waste. You import your recipes, plan your meals for the week, track your pantry, and see which meals share ingredients — so you buy less and cook more.
Home cooks who buy fresh groceries regularly — especially people who cook for 1–4 people, shop weekly, and find themselves throwing out ingredients that didn't get used. If you've ever watched good food go bad, MyRecipeHQ is for you.
MyRecipeHQ is a mobile-friendly web app, so it works great on iPhone and Android from your browser. A dedicated native app is on the roadmap — we'll announce it when it's ready.
When you add meals to your weekly planner, MyRecipeHQ analyzes the ingredient lists and shows you which ingredients appear in multiple planned meals. The more overlap, the fewer unique items you need to buy — which means less waste and a smaller grocery bill.

Importing Recipes

Take a screenshot of any recipe — from a website, a book, a handwritten card, anything. Paste it into MyRecipeHQ and our AI reads the image and extracts the title, ingredient list, and instructions automatically. It usually takes about 3–5 seconds.
Most major recipe websites work well — NYT Cooking, Serious Eats, AllRecipes, Food52, Bon Appétit, and hundreds more. If a site blocks content scrapers or uses heavy JavaScript rendering, the screenshot import is a reliable fallback.
It happens occasionally, especially with handwritten recipes or unusual formatting. Every imported recipe goes through an edit screen before saving — you can correct any mistakes before they're added to your library.

Meal Planning

The planner is week-by-week — you can navigate forward as many weeks as you want. We've found most people plan 1–2 weeks ahead, so the weekly view keeps things practical rather than overwhelming.
Life happens — that's exactly why we built rescheduling as a first-class feature. Tap any planned meal and move it to another slot. The ingredient overlap scores update automatically so you can see the impact of rearranging.
There are two distinct suggestion modes. Cook from your kitchen looks at what's currently in your pantry and tells you which of your own recipes you can make right now — prioritizing ingredients that are about to expire so nothing goes to waste. Plan smarter looks at meals you've already added to your week and recommends other recipes from your library that share the most ingredients with your current plan, maximizing overlap and minimizing what you need to buy. Both modes only draw from your own recipe library — no random recipes from the internet.

Pantry Tracking

No — the pantry works best for perishables and fresh items that have a short shelf life (meat, fish, produce, dairy). You don't need to log shelf-stable staples like olive oil or pasta unless you want to track them. The goal is awareness, not bookkeeping.
Items are flagged as "Expiring Soon" when they're within 3 days of their expiration date, and "Expired" on or after that date. We show an alert banner at the top of the pantry so you can't miss it.
No — pantry tracking is unlimited on every plan, including Free. The difference is that Premium and Max also get expiration alerts so you know what to use first.

Pricing & Account

The free plan lets you add up to 10 new recipes per month (the allowance resets monthly), plus screenshot and URL import, pantry tracking (no expiration alerts), and ingredient overlap counts. The meal planner, smart suggestions, and PDF import require Premium ($7/mo, or $5/mo billed annually) or higher.
Start with the Free plan to try MyRecipeHQ. When you're ready for the full experience, upgrade to Premium or Max from your account settings. No commitment — downgrade anytime and nothing gets deleted.
Not yet | MyRecipeHQ is currently single-account. Shared household accounts and collaborative planning are on the roadmap. Sign up for updates if that's important to you.
